Ryan ballou was told he wouldn't live beyond his mid 20's

IN 2017, HE TURNED 30.

A Life Fighting For Others

Ryan has been a vocal advocate for DMD research. He has volunteered at the MDA Labor Day Telethon, given numerous speeches to parents of afflicted boys and made a variety of TV and radio appearances.

As of today, Ryan's heart is healthy. Since he started taking the trial medication, there has been no additional deterioration of his heart muscle. “I’ve been ahead of the curve,” Ryan says.

In His Own Words

When I am not out raising awareness for BallouSkies you can most likely find me in Pittsburgh on the back patio of my house where I live with my father, Ty Ballou.

If the sun is out you can bet I am reading a book or simply catching some rays out back. You can also find me out there chasing around my niece and nephews in my power wheelchair!

I spend most of my time with my awesome family. Without them and all of the wonderful people I call friends I could not handle my daily struggle with Muscular Dystrophy. Thanks to all who have supported us over the years and all those who will in the years to come!

Peace and love.
Ryan
