During her time at Penn
State’s
University Park Campus, Kim walked-on to the
Cross-Country team as a sophomore and graduated in 2002 as a
lead scorer and Team Captain. In 2005, she went looking for
a new challenge and stood at the starting line of her first
triathlon in
Moraine
State Park shaking in fear
at the thought of a 600 meter swim. Today, Kim’s triathlon
career includes over 25 total triathlons, 10 half Ironmans
and two Ironmans (her first of which at the World
Championships in 2008). After breaking her collarbone in the
Half Ironman World Championships in late 2009, Kim (and her
titanium plate) took on the challenge of the full Ironman
again in late 2010 at Ironman Cozumel where she placed, 1st
amateur and 6th female overall with a time of
10:03. Ironman Cozumel’s performance earned her trip to the
Hawaii Ironman World Championships in October where she will
compete, once again, against the world’s best athletes.
In addition to her passion for triathlon, her
professional career as a Registered Dietitian / Licensed
Nutritionist provides me with unique opportunities to tie in
nutrition with the athletic realm in my own life, and assist
others' in reaching their nutritional goals. She is a 2002
graduate of Penn
State
University's Undergraduate Nutrition
Program, and a 2003 graduate of the
Penn
State
University's Dietetic Internship
Program. Within her current position, Corporate Dietitian
for Super Bakery Inc., I am a member of the research and
development team which creates new products and I serve as a
source for credible nutrition expertise. She has also
developed an extensive sales and marketing background. In
February of 2010, she started my own Sports Nutrition
Counseling / Endurance Coaching business called “Fuel Your
Passion”
www.fuelyourpassion.net.
Doing nutrition, wellness, and motivational speaking allows
me to connect with my audience and inspire them to make
small changes that can such a big difference. My goal is to
inspire people to improve their lifestyle, believe in
themselves and know that a journey of a thousand miles
starts with a single step.
